Staying For the Winter

Did you guess who came to visit us early in December???  Well, let me give you a hint.....
....... we borrowed Kevin's truck, Mommy came too, and.......
........ we headed north.  We thought it was a little late in the season for road construction........but we kept on driving and driving.  After a while....
.... Poppa got in the back seat for a nap, and...........
.... Mommy took over the driving duties - she seems to be happy to be driving that big F150! After a while ....
........ she got tired of following this big truck and worked up enough nerve to put down the pedal and pass it.........and eventually...........
....... we stopped for the night in a place called Timmins - about 7 hours north of our place!  After packing some stuff in the truck and more stuff in a storage locker..............
........ and a couple of days later, we were heading south again with a passenger, or......
........... two!  Yes... that is Aunt Muffy.  She came down to spend the winter at our place....
...... and the day I went downstairs ...........
........ and found Poppa and the bears all snuggled up under their blanket while they watched TV....
.......... and found Aunt Muffy on the main floor, comfortably computing, I knew it was time for Poppa and me...........
......... to head for someplace warmer!  That water was kinda chilly!  But, that is the Atlantic Ocean at Dayona Beach, Florida!!!

Christmas in Canada

At the beginning of December......
.... Mommy, Daddy and the boys came for an early Christmas before we left for Florida.  We all went out for dinner, to Swiss Chalet, on Saturday night.  Then on Sunday morning....
....... we started opening presents!  Munchie liked his new blanket....
...... and Curtie was quite pleased with his new blanket and his new hat, while Munchie was busy trying on his new gloves....
...... and his blue hands tried to attack his little brother.  Too cute - they are hamming for the camera - imagine what they'll be like when they are teenagers!
Then they began trying on their new winter jackets - they both fit!
Curtie discovered that there was a lighter jacket on the inside and decided to try it on too.
Finally Daddy checked out his new blanket, but he left it in the bag so he wouldn\t have to try and fold it up to get it back in!
Munchie had time to play a couple of games on my computer.......
............ then they all headed back to their house for school the next day.  But - look who arrived shortly after that!!!!

Munchie's Visit

After another trip to the city.....
...... we picked up Munchie so we could spend a weekend with him.  Once more the time flew by - a weekend is such a short time!
We visited McDonald's, we shopped for good stuff to take home, Poppa and Munchie played a card game of some sort, the three of us played dominoes - and for an 8-year-old, Munchie picked the game up very quickly.  We had fun!
But, of course, it was soon time to bundle up the bears for the trip back to the city to meet Mommy and return our little visitor!  After both boys had visited..........
.......... I knitted a blanket for Curtie in shades of green - his favourtie colour.  I wanted to put some fuzzy yarn for snuggling - but the only fuzzy yarn I could find was lime green, which looks yellow in this picture.  Then.............
....... I made a similar blanket for Munchie.  His favourite colours are blue and orange, but he wanted some grey so it would look like an old blanket I knit for him years ago.  So the stripes are blue and grey and the fuzzy part is orange.  One other thing..........
.........Auntie Colleen sent me these photos of a hand-knit skeleton.  I wouldn't undertake such a large and intricate project, but I certainly admire the skill, time and imagination that went into this!  Wow - just Wow!

November Memories

November is just a memory now, but I'll show you some of the highlights.........
.... Poppa bought this cute little slow cooker for me..... a red one.... to match the new toaster he bought for me in October.  It is smaller than my large one..........great for just the two of us......... and bigger than the little one - which is just too small for some things.
Aunt Denise was over one day while she and Poppa did some research on-line.  I love this picture - can you see a family resemblance???
Trent was in Orillia to play hockey!  Sean, Lori, Trent and Trinity were all on hand to watch, and Poppa, myself and Curtie all went to watch as well!  The next day they all came for a short visit, but unfortunately the visit was too short.  We both enjoyed the visit immensely though and Curtie thought Sean was funny and nice and wanted to see him again!  Thanks to the Duncans for the visit!!!
Yes, you were reading correctly.  We met Mommy, Munchie and Curtie at the halfway point and we brought Curtie back for a weekend.  It seemed like a short visit....
....... Curtie had enough time for his favourite thing to eat at our place.... toast with butter and peanut butter!  That's an easy meal to get ready!
He had a good time playing with Poppa, Squeegie and Taffy - but a weekend makes a short visit, and soon we took him back to meet Mommy again.  Then it would be Munchie's turn a couple of weeks later.

And Then....

........ with that cooler weather.............
..... the leaves started putting on their colours..........
.......... it was quite beautiful........
..... well worth taking a drive, but of course............
...... then they started falling.  This is Auntie Colleen's front yard - she has a huge, old tree there.  I was so glad Poppa didn't have to rake that great big yard we used to have.  But............
....... I was not so glad one morning when I woke up and saw this in our back yard!!!!  Yikes!  I took this photo on October 27, 2016.  We still had a few weeks until we headed for the Sunshine State.

What Was I Knitting...........

.......... in the last blog (pictures taken prior to our leaving for Florida)???
Well, it started out with some lovely yarn in various colours.

Then...........it became a lot of squares sewn into strips.....
....... finally, the strips were sewn together to make........
...... a queen-size blanket for Mommy and Daddy when the weather got wintery!  I put it on Poppa's bed so you could see it finished.  Good job I got it made - the weather started to turn chilly....

...... so Squeegie thought he should eat more - he says bears eat a lot as soon as it starts to get cold in the autumn, but it seems to me that he is hungry all the time no matter what the weather is like.
Taffy snuggled into a fuzzy blanket to watch TV.
Mildred was wearing the sweater I knitted for her when the weather was still warm.
Auntie Colleen was wearing slacks instead of shorts when we went to visit Grandma Grace and Aunt Peggy.
The evening sky looked rather pretty, but still a little chilly too.
But - Poppa was still wearing shorts when he went over to the garden units to repair some of the stairs for the Condo Board - he is now a member of aforementioned Board.  He did such a good job, they were all asking him to join.  He attended his first meeting via Skype from our place in Florida.
