And Then There Were Two!

On Sunday, August 22nd, Poppa drove me down to Munchie's house to help Mommee cope with the added duties now that Curtis was at home.  Once I got there I realized that in the rush I had forgotten both, yes both, of my cameras.  Luckily Poppa was coming for a visit on Wednesday and after a few texts back and forth, and a phone call to dictate a list of things we needed, he agreed to bring a few items with him, including my cameras.  Thank goodness!  We were really busy!  One little guy was hungry all the time, the other one was busy, busy, busy!  Both of us looked forward to nap time every day!  The newest addition was quite good during the night, only waking up once or twice - giving Mommee an opportunity to get more sleep than she did with Munchie - who woke up every hour or so!  Munchie was intrigued with his little brother, but didn't quite realize how fragile such small people are, so we had to keep an eye on him.  All in all things went really well.

As promised, Poppa arrived on Wednesday. Of course, he brought my cameras, as well as two gift bags from Granny - one for Munchie and one for Coogie. Munchie watched while Mommee opened Coogie's bag and requisitioned the cute little hat he found in there. He wore it while Poppa helped him unwrap what he found in his own bag.

Inside his bag, was a package with two dinosaurs - a large one, and a small one - as well as a dinosaur egg that opened and closed to reveal a small caveman inside.  They were a huge hit, and Munchie played with them a lot.  He especially loved the little egg and tried hiding various things inside it, but always reverted back to putting the little caveman in there.  There was also a cute little outfit - but Mommee confiscated it and hid it away in the closet, so Munchie wouldn't get it all dirty.  It included little boots that she fell in love with.  You can see by the hat on Munchie's head, how adorable the layette was that Coogie got.  It had everything you could think of included with it, from sleepers to a bib and hat.  It was too big for Coogie right now, so once again Mommee stashed it in the closet out of harm's way.  Coogie slept through all this excitement!
Coogie slept quite a lot.  He slept in his little chair. He slept in Mommee's arms.
He slept in his car seat when they went to the doctor.  Munchie hadn't seen that infant car seat for a long time and was quite taken with figuring out how to do up, or undo, the buckle.

One day when Coogie seemed to be having a hard time getting to sleep we popped him into the swing that Poppa and I had brought - and it seemed to work like a charm!

And while Coogie slept in the swing, Munchie took some time to watch his favourite TV show - Toopy and Binoo!  Any of you with little ones, or grandchildren will recognize that one!
Thursday night was important - Munchie got dressed up to go to see a Blue Jays game with Daddy!  We hear that he was very good, and didn't get restless until near the end.  They were quite late getting home and Munchie went straight to bed!   It seemed that Friday arrived in a flash.  Munchie got showered and ready for bed....
...he wanted to take Squeegie with him, but we convinced him that Squeegie should stay with Nanna.  Coogie fell asleep in Mommee's arms.....
And at that point, I headed home for the weekend.

Knitting.......oh yes...........I finished Curtis's blanket while I was there and when we turned on the air conditioner, we popped it over him to keep the cool breeze off.
I'm heading back to their house this evening to spend a couple more days there, so I'll be off-line until Thursday...........more pics and news then!

The Next Few Days....

After our visit with Coogie on his birthday, Poppa and I brought Munchie back to our house to stay for a few days.  Mommee and Coogie stayed in the hospital an extra day - Coogie got a little jaundice and had to sleep under the lights for a night.  But, they did get home on Saturday evening and Mommee was thrilled to be in her own bed!

Meanwhile, as we were awaiting Poppa's arrival on the day before Coogie finally made his debut, Munchie played happily while I watched.  He thought maybe he should be a footwear model, but I'm not sure his choice was the best one for his audition.  He walked in this footwear and made a little swoosh, step noise - since he dragged one foot along to keep the footwear on, and then stepped on the other foot.
After a while Poppa arrived, and Daddee had phoned to say that Coogie would not arrive until after Munchie's bedtime - so we headed for Poppa's house.  On the way past town, we stopped in at McDonald's because we knew Munchie liked french fries.  Of course, he also likes the playground there and explored under Poppa's watchful supervision.
Pretty soon though, he climbed up on the seat beside me to eat his french fries and some chicken nuggets.  He ate the whole thing and we headed for home.
The next couple of days went by in a blur.  I know Poppa and Munchie made several trips to the playground across the road.  We went to A&W for breakfast one day and Munchie charmed everyone in the building.  We went to our usual Sunday breakfast place and he managed to charm the staff there as well.  Those big blue eyes will do it every time!  Poppa and Munchie coloured and watched TV together.
And, on Sunday, the last day of Munchie's stay with us, Poppa really took him on a big adventure!
We were heading back to see Mommee and Daddee on Monday, so I got a picture on that last evening of Poppa and Munchie doing their usual thing, playing together before retiring for the night.
And the next day I packed a bag and we headed back to Munchie's house to help Mommee with Coogie while Daddee went back to work.

Quick Report

Hi All!  I am at Munchie's house helping Mommee with Munchie and Coogee.  Everyone is fine - Mommee is finding it much easier to recover after a normal birth than after the C-section she had to undergo when Munchie was born.  Coogee is usually a very good baby - though tonight he is a little more restless - Mommee is having a little trouble getting him to settle down.  Munchie has gone to see a Blue Jays game with Daddee and should be home soon!  I bet he is going to be one tired little boy!  I have taken some pictures of the new arrival and will post them this coming weekend, when I will be home for a while.  Mommee will see how the weekend goes, and let me know if she needs me to come back.  Squeegie is here with me, and he is missing Poppa and Taffy immensely!  More to come!

August 18th, 2010

Daddee called us early in the morning to tell us that Mommee was in labour and they expected Curtis to arrive that day.  So, we set out right away, since Poppa had to be back in our city by 1pm for a dental appointment.  It was a nice morning for a drive and the traffic was heavy, but not too bad.  But, let me give you some background details.  About 11:30pm on Tuesday, Mommee started feeling crampy, but not bad enough to go to the hospital yet.  So they went to bed, and Daddee got to sleep until about 3:15am on Wednesday, when Mommee woke him up because she thought it must surely be time to go.  Luckily Uncle Craig was there, so they didn't have to wake Munchie up - and they went over to the hospital which is a short distance away.  After Mommee was checked out, and a call had been made to her doctor, they told her to go home and rest for a while longer.  When we arrived, she was resting in bed, which was good.  Uncle Craig was there and he and Munchie were enjoying each other's company.
After Uncle Craig and Munchie had a bite to eat for lunch, Daddee went to take Uncle Craig to the station to catch a train back home, and Poppa had to leave to go for his appointment with the dentist.  Or course, while they were gone, Mommee got feeling even worse, so she got dressed and ready to go.   This was now about 3pm on Wednesday.

So we chatted and passed some time, but she was pretty tired and worn out from all those hours of discomfort!  And, sure enough, before Daddee got back home, she had another contraction.  She was being sooooo brave and handling like a real trooper.  We didn't hear a sound from her, but we could tell.

Pretty soon, Daddee got home and once again they set out for the hospital, while Munchie and I waited for Poppa to get back.  About 5pm Daddee phoned and said that they didn't think Curtis would arrive before Munchie's bedtime, so when Poppa got back we headed for home.  At bedtime, Curtis still hadn't put in his appearance, so I left my cell phone turned on beside my bed and turned in.  Daddee texted about 11:30pm that things were progressing, but still no new baby.  After 24 hours of labour, I was starting to get a little concerned, since Munchie had been similar and ended being born by emergency C-section.  Oh Dear!  I managed to doze off again and the next call didn't come until about 4:15 on Thursday morning..  Finally!  And Naturally!  Curtis had arrived!  He was healthy and Mommee was tired, sore and happy!  As I already told you sooner he weighed 8lbs. and 15oz!  No wonder it was hard for him and Mommee!

We were later getting away on Thursday since Poppa had to do an errand for Great Gramma, but as soon as we could we hopped into the car and headed back to the hospital.  When we arrived Daddee met us at the door and soon we were able to meet Curtis.  Munchie was intrigued with his tiny little baby brother.

We all took turns holding him, while Munchie admired him.  He's sooo cute and sooo tiny.  I keep trying to remember Mommee that tiny - or even Munchie, but it is hard to imagine now!  Here he is with Mommee and Munchie.

And here he is with Poppa.

And.............here he is up close and personal!

Cute isn't he?  Yep!  I think we'll keep him!

Curtis (2)

This morning (August 19th, 2010) at 3:48am Curtis finally made his appearance after keeping Mommee in pain and Daddee in a state of anxiety for more than 24 hours.  He is fine and healthy and weighed in at 8 lbs, 15 ounces (which is pretty darn close to 9 lbs!).  Whew!  We are happy to see him, and glad for Mommee and Daddee.  We haven't seen him yet since we came home last night to put Munchie to bed.  Poppa, Munchie and I will head out later this afternoon to see him for the first time and get some pictures!  We are all so excited!

Curtis

Mommee has been in labour since 11:30pm last evening.  It appears that Curtis will be just as stubborn as Munchie was.  We have just arrived home - and brought Munchie with us.....off to pack him into bed!  More when I have news!  Good Night All!

Back to Normal

We stopped in to see Munchie on our way home from Granny's place - but our timing was off - when we arrived there he looked like this...........
He had gone for a long walk with Mommee to the grocery store, and headed for a nap shortly after they arrived at home.  However, it did give us an opportunity to have a nice visit with Momme - who is getting rather anxious to welcome Curtis into the family - and get that part of the process over with.  She has an appointment with the doctor tomorrow - so we'll see what happens.

Once we arrived at our own house, life settled back into its normal routine.  We walked up to the coffee shop the next morning and espied this little fellow perched precariously on a dead limb.

I could have zoomed in closer to him...but I was worried that he would fly away and I would miss the shot - it has happened before!  Anyway, when we arrived at the coffee shop we found that the normal lineup was back.  If you peer through the glare from the glass, you can see that the lineup goes on behind Poppa right to the door.

Speaking of coffee shops reminds me of another picture I wanted to share with you.  This one was taken by Uncle Shaun .........and as I like to do..........I will also share Auntie Colleen's comments regarding this particular picture.  Quote "We went to a lovely brunch at the Pig and Whistle... Grape and Wine... Branches and Twigs... Olive and Apricots or whatever the heck that place is called, with Marcia and Jozsef on Sunday. And I did just fine! To be honest (because she'll call me out if I'm not) Shaun and I sailed right by this abandoned Timmy's cup in the entrance. M&J had spotted it though and off Shaun and Jozsef went to hunt it down and take photos. My favourite part of all this? That family members (see Cheryl's blog as well) are spotting these abandoned pieces and taking note of them now. This one was living a rather high life in the foyer." And without further ado - here is the photo:

When we arrived back at the house, I looked around to see how Auntie Muffy had been spending her vacation.  Seems like she was reading....

The pile of finished books got taller, and the pile of un-read books got smaller.  Sometimes she took a break to surf the web - and sometimes she took a break to play computer games!

And today she will be leaving to head back up north.  I hope she had a good vacation and that she has a safe trip home.

One last picture...here is the blanket I am working on now.  This one is for Curtis - so he can have one at home and one to stay at Nanna's house to use when he is visiting.  I had this yarn in my stash, so the blanket is striped - to make sure I have enough yarn.  It is Bernat Baby Softee and the colours speak for themselves.  The pattern is from Leisure Arts Best Knit Baby Afghans.  It is called Precious in Pink...but for our little boy it will be called Wonderful Baby in Blue and White - Hee!

Home and Away

So...........here is the person I discovered in my kitchen...........it's Auntie Muffy!
She is staying until Sunday - which is tomorrow already!  Wow!  Time flies by so quickly.

We had already decided that we would go to visit Granny so I could inspect the work that Poppa and Gramps did there, so we left Auntie Muffy at our house to relax, and off we went. We arrived safely after a few delays on the way, due to road work being done.  The next day Poppa and Gramps went golfing while Granny and I went out for breakfast.

Granny has quite a busy schedule each day.  She is up with the sun (or earlier) and off to Uncle Sean's house (where it was pouring rain when we arrived)...
.... to help with the task of getting three little people ready for the day.  There is, of course, Cousin Tristin - she's nine now - hard to believe!
Tristin is quiet in the morning and keeps to herself, but by the time we picked her up in the afternoon she was bouncy, fun and an interesting mix of nine-year-old and young lady.  And, she is certainly caring with her two younger siblings!  The first of which is Trent - my father would have called him a little scalliwag!  He is so full of fun and mischief, but can turn into a serious young man when he is using his DS1 or building complicated Lego structures.  Here he is showing Poppa how the DS1 works.
And then there is little Trinity.  She is a bundle of energy just looking for a place to expend it.....
and someone to play with her while she burns it off.  We played "come and catch me Nanna" until I was hot and weary - and she still wanted more!  But, since I was too worn out, we worked on puzzles instead.

Squeegie and Taffy spent some time with their cousin - Squeegie said his name was Travis - but I'm not sure if he had it right.
Our last morning there, we met Uncle Kevin and Auntie Chris for breakfast.  The food was good and matched the company.

Of course, Granny and Gramps were there too!

Thank you to Granny and Gramps for a nice mini-vacation for Poppa and myself!

Since Then....

We just got back from a trip to visit Granny and Gramps - we had such a good time.  But - first let me fill you in on what has happened since Munchie's Weekend with Gramma.  Let me see ... where do I start???  Mommee has finished work in anticipation of Curtis' arrival.  So - a few days after Munchie arrived home with Mommee and Daddee after his visit to Gramma - we went down to visit him and to take Mommee a suitcase for her visit to the hospital.  As we were riding up in the elevator to Munchie's house, I called to let Momme know of our imminent arrival.  When we got off the elevator we heard Munchie racing down the hall calling Poppa!  I had never seen him run sooo fast - it was sooo cute!
Here he is, huffing a little after that run!  Mommee wanted to go to the grocery store, so Poppa helped Mucnhie get his shoes on.
we put Munchie in the stroller and set out.  Once we got to the mall, he wanted to get out of the stroller and walk with Poppa - and of course Poppa let him.  And, after a long, long walk, some fresh air and playing with Poppa for a while, our little Munchkin was more than ready to climb into his crib and have a long nap.

When we arrived home, I took a stroll around the yard and noticed that the Rose of Sharon bush was loaded with lots and lots of buds.

Can you see them all?  It should be beautiful when they all start blooming!  I have amassed quite a collection of lace for my pressing and starching pile....

I'll have to get busy and get some of it finished up for Auntie Colleen.  Kev-Inn had a birthday and came home from work looking like this...........

We took him out for dinner at one of his favourite eating places and we all had a big buffet dinner and ate too much.  Here is a picture of Munchie's new blanket just after being taken from the laundry...now I have to block it out nicely so it looks its best for him next time he comes to visit us.

And here is a close-up of the piece of lace I am working on right now.

Meanwhile, someone who seems to be a little camera-shy has turned up in my kitchen!  Who is it?

Munchie's Wonderful Weekend

Sorry for the length of time elapsed since my last post, I've been busy trying to get some stuff ready for Curtis' arrival, making plans to visit Granny, and getting the house ready for company!

Yes, Auntie Muffy is here!  She's staying for about a week, and we have been enjoying her humour and her company.

I finished Curtis' blanket as you know, and then I finished Munchie's blanket - it is in the laundry and pictures will appear when it is rescued from the dryer.  I have now started another blanket for Curtis, so he can have one here and one at home - to save Mommee and Daddee having to pack more extra stuff when they come to visit.  Hopefully, the less they have to pack for two little boys, the more likely they are to come for a visit!  Again, pictures to follow soon.

Meanwhile, last weekend Munchie went with Daddee and Mommee to visit Gramma, and I have some pictures of what he did there.  Most of the picture seem to evolve around the pool - which Munchie loves!  He went down the slide....
...he swam with the noodle....

.....he climbed out (with some assistance from cousin Taylor) ....

...and sat on the steps to rest for a few moments....

...where he was joined by cousin Reese and they played together....

.....and at the end of a long, busy day - he tried corn on the cob for the first time...and after watching the other people eat theirs for a few minutes, he proceeded to eat all the corn off his cob without further coaching.
