Nothing New!

Life goes on...... we had a home inspection done on the condo we like and there were a couple of issues - we are waiting on feedback.  There is a home inspection scheduled for our house on Sunday. So everything is in waiting mode - a little stressful - waiting always is!  Other than that there is nothing new.  We still bring Aunt Peggy out for dinner on the weekend......
.......... doesn't she look marvellous for a young lady of 100 years!  Poppa and Squeegie go golfing.  I cook and clean and compute, with a little knitting thrown in.  But - for the most part -
........ life is calm..........

Update

We have put an offer on a condo - and we have an offer on our house.  Now we are just waiting for everything to firm up - and that is the hardest part!  We won't know for sure until June 30th at the latest if the offer on our house will be firm - the buyers have to sell their current home.  Please keep your fingers crossed for us - or say a little prayer - whichever works for you!  So I'm continuing packing and knitting too, of course.  I finished a pair............
....... of socks for Munchie - with Taffy's help!  And then I made..........
...... the white teddy bear he had requested last year about this time.  Poor little guy - the Florida sock drive pre-empted his teddy bear - but here he is!  He wanted white and fuzzy and when he was here a couple of weekends ago, he chose the orange-ey colour for contrast.  I gave him blue eyes like Munchie's and I think the colour is perfect!  Here is another angle.........
....... just so you can see the little tail and the handsome profile!  I am currently making him a sweater with snowflake as per Munchie's request.  And, today I received some fuzzy green yarn in the mail - to make a teddy bear for Little Curtie!

The Visit

Last weekend (not the one just past - the one before that!) we had a nice visit..........
......... with our little boys!  They came up for a short visit, but I did get pictures of them having some fun at the playground.
Munchie - who is learning to read very quickly! - stopped to read the sign at the entrance to the playground area.  Then..........
.......... under Poppa's watchful eye, both boys started up this scare-ey looking piece of equipment!
And it wasn't long before Munchie had scaled its heights and was at the very top!  Little Curtie.....
............. got almost to the top, but faced with the lateral movement to the centre decided (sensibly I thought) to climb back down at that point.  I caught Daddy...........
.............. playing too!  Munchie did a tour of the equipment, he moved to .........
........... this climbing apparatus and mastered it in moments, which got him to....
............ these monkey bars.  When his arms got tired, he moved on again.....
......... and climbed UP the slide..... while nearby....
............ Curtie came DOWN the slide - headfirst!  When I turned around again........
.............. Daddy had moved to another piece of exercise equipment, and............
.............. Munchie was sitting in the little truck for a bit of a rest........... then..........
.......... he tried the bumble bee to see if he was too big for it yet - nope - he still fits.  Next....
......... he tried the "big kid" monkey bars, but they were a little bit hard for him - they're further apart!  So he gave up on them and....
.......... tested this noisy, clanging keyboard to make sure it still worked.  It did.  He.....
............ twirled on the whirligig, then jumped off and....
...........thought he should work on his muscles to get them toned up.......
............ he needed a little assistance with this one - it was tough!  He found Curtie and they both.......
............... tested this machine while Mommy took some pictures.  I think he would have played all day but.........
........... the rest of his family was getting hungry, so we headed off for supper.  I did manage to........
....... finish some Soccer Sox for Curtie while.......
............ Munchie was getting re-acquainted with Taffy and Squeegie.

Old & New

Last year - before we left for Florida - I posted some pictures of myold high (secondary) school being demolished.  For a long time the property sat vacant while the school board got all the approvals and architectural drawings approved by the appropriate authorities.  When we got back from Florida in April...........
.......... we were astonished to see this building already erected on the site!  This is the new school currently being built.  Poppa was kind enough to stop and let me out of the car.........
.......... so I could get some closer shots.  Of course, the security fence was not a great asset to the picture-taking process, but you can get the gist and see the heavy equipment in there, as well as a few workers.  I zoomed in....
........... fro a shot of what I think will become the main entrance to the school, which is on the other side of the school from where it was when I attended classes there.  I walked around the corner to see where the main entrance used to be.....
....... which now looks like this, and when I noticed..............
.......... Poppa was getting ahead of me!  He stopped a little further up the street though, and I caught up to him.  I'll follow up on this as it progresses.  So - new school for our area!  Also, new.....
........... is the bear in the middle!  Squeegie, who is 14 years old, has gone into semi-retirement.  This means he doesn't sleep in my bed at night - he is getting rather grizzled and worn, so in an effort to prolong his active days with Poppa, I decided he should sleep alone at night.  This left a vacant spot in my bed which I needed to fill - so this is Happy!  He quickly made friends with Smoothie & Crunchie and often sits with them during the day while Squeegie is with Poppa.  Sometimes....

......... in Florida, he just sat on the bed and relaxed.  Now that we are back in Canada....
............... he perches at the end of my bed, waiting for me to turn in for the night!

What's New???

Hey everyone!  What's new with you?  I have some news for you....
..... our beautiful house, which we have taken great pride in, is For Sale.  The property is quite large and Poppa's health just isn't good enough for him to maintain it the way he would like to.  So, rather than stay here until it is not so nice, we have decided to find another smaller place while this one is still so lovely.  You may be wondering why that has kept me from posting for such a long time.  Well,
....... here is our parlour on April 24th............and.........
......... here it is today - can you spot the difference?  Yes - it has been de-personalized and de-cluttered as per the recommendation of our realtor.  We discussed this at great length while we were in Florida this year.  We had made so many trips to the ER last fall while Poppa was cleaning and raking the flower beds and the yard, it was scarey, worrisome and stressful for both of us.  Poppa felt well the whole time we were in Florida where he doesn't have to do anything unless he feels like it, when he feels like it.  Two days after we arrived home, there he was out raking in that acre of property - and I called the realtor.  It will be a huge change for us, after spending 22 years here, but it has to be done.  We don't know  yet where we will be going - I'll keep you advised.  Meantime....
......... I have been packing up all those extraneous things and piling them in the garage.  You can see by the quantity of empty boxes that I still have lots to do!  And outside....
... the forsythia is blooming regardless.
