Here she is looking at some of the lace I took over. As you can see, she seemed to like it quite a lot. She admired each piece as she took them out of their little bags. There was a lot of pink this time, hopefully I will have some other colours for her the next time I deliver some lace. I have had several people ask me what she does with all this lace and when I say she uses them for her cards they look at me sceptically. So, if you take a second look at my birthday card from Granny you can see some crocheted lace that she used on that one (I didn`t make the crocheted lace).
Cute, isn`t it! Now, here is a card that she gave me yesterday. As you can see it features one of my favourite bears (Squeegie and Taffy are tied for most favourite!), and some of the lace from the first batch that I made in Florida. There is a picture of the envelope, so you can see how cleverly she placed the lace at the edge of the envelope to highlight the slight scallop of the lace.
And here is the front and back of the card. I should mention that the Pooh bear is fuzzy!
This is an example of lace on cards by Auntie Colleen. She has promised me pictures of some of the other cards. It is fun to see the product of my labours combined with the products of her labours. Equally exciting was the gift that accompanied the card.
This is an awesome book with patterns and how-tos for all kinds of edgings, from rib to lace to cables. The very first page of the book explains how changing yarn or needles can change the appearance of the finished product. Here is a good example. I chose a pattern that looked dainty enough for pink thread. In the book it looks much less lacy since it is worked with yarn. Here is how it looks done with 1.75mm needles and No. 3 crochet cotton.
This is from the book pictured above, and is called Twin Leaf. It turns out quite delicate when done in the crochet cotton. Oh yes, I did get a picture of the piece that I just finished yesterday. It is called Grandmother's Lace, and is quite pretty too.
And then, of course, there was the very interesting e-mail that I got from Granny last night. Here is the new tub going in! Hmmmm. Just how hard is Poppa working as opposed to Gramps and Uncle Kev?
It looks like he has a supervisory position for this project. Oh wait! It looks like he did get down and dirty later on.
And for some reason, it was soon time to stop for the night..........I think this picture gives us a clue!
I was talking to him on the phone last night. He and Gramps had gone for a game of golf, which Poppa enjoyed. The work on the bathroom is going well. Squeegie and Taffy are missing Poppa - but they did go to visit Auntie Colleen with me, and she gave them a special place to sit while we had lunch.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You're using the book already. That lace looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom looks like a lot of work but it is coming along beautifully.
