A Little Excursion

I don't have many pictures of this day - I didn't bring my camera, and my phone wouldn't cooperate at all!  But........
....... just after Auntie Cecile and Uncle Mark returned from their two-week vacation in France, her and I got together for an enjoyable day in the big city.  Here she is sitting in the dining room at the Famous People Players theatre.  We had lunch before we went into the theatre.  Following lunch we enjoyed a performance of "Under the Big Top" - it was very good - Auntie Cecile might tell you about the mice - and just to top it all off, it ended with an Elvis cameo (we both love Elvis!).  After the performance we returned to the dining room for.....
..... a delicious dessert.  These were the other two ladies at our table.  Along the way to the theatre (we weren't allowed to take pictures during the performance).....
.... we met this wonderful fellow who had starred in the Famous People Players version of The Lion King.  I just loved his body configuration and his shapely legs!  Thank you to Auntie Cecile for forwarding me some pics and for a most enjoyable day!

I'm So Far Behind

Poppa has been very busy!  He....
........ wasn't very happy with the way the sliding glass doors opened - they were very hard to push and made horrible noises when we tried to open them!  So he took them apart - completely - at one point I had a large open hole in the wall!  He cleaned all the channels, and then cleaned all the different pieces of glass and screen, and then re-installed them all!  It took him the best part of a day, but now they slide with one finger and are so clean I can barely tell there is glass in them.  If that wasn't enough....
.... he repeated the same process with the sliding windows in the three bedroom.  This is my room and you can probably tell at the moment, there is no glass in that window.  With Happy watching carefully, Poppa cleaned all the channels where the glass slides, then put some silicone stuff to make them slide easily (it worked!), and then put them all back in.  Once that process had been repeated in all three rooms...........
.......... my room.........
........ in the boys' room, and finally.....
... he and Squeegie took a moment to admire the new curtains in Poppa's room.  Everything was declared satisfactory so.....
.... they had a short rest!   Finally..........
..... here is a photo of little Oliver (fondly referred to as Ollie by his proud grandparents) in the UK.  We are looking forward to meeting him when we get to Florida at the end of December!  Oh my gosh - how cute!

Moves

For a couple of days at the end of August....
... we had our house guest back!  Yes, auntie Denise came to stay just before her new apartment became available.  She worked on updating her addresses while she was here...
....... caught up on some phone calls and....
.... we took a walk in the mornings to have a coffee and bagel and pick up a few groceries.  But soon....
... it was time to follow her up the road to.....
.... meet her at her new residence!  There she is waving us in the right direction.
We headed for the entrance - notice the big banana tree off to the right!  We were there a couple of days ago and it is already suffering from the cooler weather we've had lately.  Anyway....
............ she led us to the elevator........
.......... then down the hall.......
........ and into her new apartment.  If you look closely, you can see her best friend, Wendy in the kitchen.  Auntie Denise and Wendy had worked hard and prepared a lovely meal so Poppa and I could stay for supper!  While Auntie Denise.........
.... set the table and Wendy tossed the salad, I wandered around and got a few pics for you!  Here...
....... is the front entrance and the sitting area............
............ she has her desk set up right next to a lovely large window at the back of her apartment, which.....
........ looks out onto her nice-sized balcony.  The view from the balcony is lovely - there are lots of trees and a large pool.  Finally.....
.......... she has a large bedroom, with space for two beds and she has it looking gorgeous!  The bedroom is also at the back, away from the noise of the traffic and the parking lot!  All in all, it is quite lovely and she is starting to feel at home there.
And, I kept on knitting - here is the other outfit I finished for little Eliza Jane.

What's Been Going On?

Well... we're working at getting settled into our new home, and making great progress.  We are both happy to be back in town and close to all the amenities.  But, a couple of things of note, just before we vacated our old house, the hot tub quit working properly and so ......
... since we had promised that the hot tub would be in good working order.....
.... Poppa called the prefessionals and discovered that the main computer panel had to be replaced.  Done!
The week before we moved out, we had Auntie Denise staying with us, which worked out well, because we were also treated to a visit from Aunt Grumpy and Aunt Jeannie.  They didn't stay long, but it was nice to see them!
This is the project I was working on at that time....
.... and I finally finished it.  I sent it to Eliza Jane last week, but it won't fit her for a couple of months - and by then it should be getting cooler here in Canada - I hope she gets lots of use from it.
More recently, with Squeegie and Taffy looking on.....
.... I took everything out of the cupboards and re-arranged them.  After being in our new condo for a few weeks, it was easier to place things strategically for convenience.... and as a bonus, I ended up with more space!  While I was working on that.....
..... Poppa went shopping at Home Depot, and bought all the stuff he needed....
.... to get the garage organized and set up his tools.  What do you imagine he did next??

Taffy.....

........ who uses the internet to do her schoolwork was caught..........
.......... chatting on the phone with her friend Chloe!  I scooted her back to her schoolwork as quickly as possible!
And then, the very next day, I caught her on the phone again.  I took the phone away and she won't get it back until Monday!

School Days...

........ have returned.  I am so proud....
......... here is Munchie and his friend Jinu on the first day of school (Scptember 2015).  It was raining outside so the children gathered in the gym to line up for class.  Munchie's backpack looks almost as big as him - and apparently he had everything you could imagine for the first day of school crammed into it - I bet it was heavy!  Mommy had forgotten her camera in the busy-ness of getting the two little boys off to school so another Mom gave her this pic.  However...
.... the following day, she got this one.  I think Curtie is overcome by joy at the thought of returning to school - or is he just having fun??  Here....
... is the second picture where they both have nice smiles!  Munchie is now in Grade 2 and Curtie is in Senior Kindergarten!  How time flies!   Aren't they adorable???

Booties

Eliza Jane's Mommy mentioned that she was having a difficult time finding footwear for her little lady.  This flashed great memories in my brain - of knitting little booties for babies.
For the last several years it seemed that babies were being dressed like tiny adults - instead of the cute little baby clothes that were once popular.  With that trend, hand-knit baby items were not in demand and it had been years since I had endeavored to knit tiny things.  What a great opening for me!  I hunted through some un-packed boxes and found the old pattern pamphlet I had used those many years ago!  How fun!
Of course, I've posted pictures of my two favourites, but by the time I decided to quit making them....
... I had five little pairs of booties lined up along the edge of the coffee table.  What fun I had making them - and it was great to see the smile on Mary Beth's face when I handed the bag of booties to her!
