More Muffs

Auntie Colleen is decorating Twiddle Muffs for the hospital.  I knit them, but decorating them is challenging and time-consuming...and the pics I am posting below will demonstrate what a fantastic job my artistic younger sister does of a task that I find tedious and frustrating!  Look....

This is the first one I sent to her before it was sewn into a muff shape.  What a wonderful job!

Now sewn...this is one side....
....and this is the other.

Second muff....even better than the first!

The other side - I love the fuzzy caterpillar ... don't you??

Muff No. 3.  First side - they just keep getting better!

And this side is just as beautiful!

Muff No. 4.  I thought she would be running out of ideas by now - but this one came back to me yesterday and was delivered by Auntie Cecile to the hospital today!

Second side...do you get it now.  I am the Production Manager, Auntie Colleen is the Fabrication Manager and Auntie Cecile is the Transportation Manager!

Thank you to both of them for their assistance in helping me and donating their time and abilities to the hospital.
This is Happy and Furball...they spend the day sitting on my bed....

....sometimes they turn around and look out the window.  Happy is very protective of little Furball as you can see!

Here is a recent shot of Lauren..isn't she gorgeous?!

This is a photo of Auntie Maureen and her grandson Trent.  He has recently enlisted in the Canadian military and this was taken before he left.  Pretty Granny and handsome young man!

A New Project

Quite some time ago - like years ago - I was making twiddle muffs for the residents of a retirement home.  Recently a request came from our local hospital (where a lot of my knitting goes) asked if I could make some for them.  They still wanted baby outfits and blankets and angel pockets, etc.  So I enlisted the assistance of my youngest sister.  She did a marvelous job... here are a couple of pics....

This photo shows the entire decorated side....

....the first side - I love the caterpillar made from little fuzzy balls....

...and the second side...I love this!

Of course I am still knitting other stuff too - while my artistic sister decorates the muffs!
Like this single-bed size blanket for my sister-in-law....

....and a nice warm snowsuit for a baby - which went to the hospital.

Quick Post

I recently knit a blanket for this young lady who will be having a little girl soon.  She appears to be quite pleased with it!  They are decorating the nursery in pink and grey.

And... since golfing is probably over for this year...here is a picture of Poppa (center) with a couple of his golfing buddies.

At Work

Squeegie is learning to play the guitar that Munchie and Curtie brought him from the Build-A-Bear store in their mall.

Taffy is knitting some socks.  As I mentioned previously I am trying to use up my sock yarn (in fact all of my yarn stash) and Taffy is very kindly helping with that project!

I love this picture of Daddy (Jeff) minding the dogs outside while Mommy and the boys have a visit of us.

Meanwhile the boys were in the house having a drink.

I looked out the sliding doors at the rear of our unit and caught this little fellow percing on one of our chairs having his lunch.

While upstairs in the bedroom, Happy and Furbee were checking the weather to see if they would go someplace exciting.

Taffy is still knitting, while trying to teach Gracie how to do it too!

Meanwhile Poppa is using my swift to wind some skeins into cakes for us, so we can use the yarn bowl to knit more socks!

Our next door neighbor got a new car.  It is sooo nice, a Lincoln....made both Poppa and me remember when we had a Lincoln too.

Among other projects, Poppa is refurbishing and old model John Deere tractor.  When he got it this part was a heap of rust - just look at it now!

And, right now, the rock gardens around the garden apartments were getting more and more filled in with grass and weeds and were becoming very unattractive!

Munchie and Curtie came to help Poppa with this project and this is a picture of the part they have finished!  What a difference - and it isn't easy - every stone had to be taken out and piled, then all the grass and weeds dug out by hand, then all the stones put back in an attractive manner.  What a great job they are doing.

Their shoes were getting worn and dirty, so Poppa took them to the store and got them each a pair for getting dirty!  Curtis chose these runners.

While Munchie chose a more stylish version.  They are already dirty as you can see - but he had worn a hole right through the sole of his crocs!

Of course, he couldn't resist climbing up the stairs to the top - he's still a bit of a monkey!

All too soon, they will be on their way back home, but they have a couple more days to go!  Thank you boys!  And thanks to Mommy and Daddy for letting us borrow them!

Some Available Socks...

I have a few pairs of  "silly" socks ready for choosing!  Remember they are made from left-over yarn bits from previous "serious" socks.  Therefore, I cannot attest to the content, nor can I advise laundering suggestions.  If I could it would be:  Don't wash in hot water... I find using the Permanent Press setting on my washer seems to be okay.......a cool or warm water setting should be safe....but No promises!

So here we go:

Auntie Colleen has claimed this pair!

Aunt Pauline was the first person to claim some socks and she chose this pair.

Auntie Colleen also chose this pair!

This Christmas-ey looking pair of socks will also be going to Aunt Pauline's place in Toronto.

And.... this pretty pair went to live with Auntie Colleen!

I have one more pair which is almost finished.  There will be more coming in the next couple of weeks.  If you want to wait until you've seen them all, you can do that - but someone else may pick the ones you like best!  No promises!  There will be "serious" socks coming later - probably about 8 pairs or so - depending on yardage of skeins, it might be more or less.

So.... Keep all that in mind and if you see any you want, let me know.    Please order by number -  not by telling me "the ones with the stripes"!  Hee!  You can comment at the bottom of the blog, call, e-mail or phone - whichever works for you.  They will be given out on a first-come, first-sent basis, so keep that in mind as well!

Hope you see some you like!

This is the pair I am working on right now.  They should be done by tomorrow evening.
