Short Visit

Poppa and I went to Munchie's for a quick visit just after his birthday, to take him a present.  We weren't there very long...........
...........but we bundled the bears into their coats, since the weather had turned chilly, and off we went.  When we arrived.......
........ Mommy was working.  Soon, it was time to meet the boys as they came off the school bus.  I forgot to take my camera (we walked up - it's only a couple of blocks).  But I could hear Munchie shouting "Poppa" long before I could see him.  Both boys ran to Poppa for a hug.  After we arrived......
.......... Munchie got wrapped up in the TV and ......
..... Curtie started searching for toys so Poppa would play with him.  When Daddy arrived home Munchie opened his presents and then we had supper.  As soon as supper was finished we headed home again so we wouldn't have to be driving in the dark.

Things to Do in the Fall

Poppa has gone to work on Kev-Inn's lot.  He took...........
........ Squeegie with him and Johnny (who usually sits on my bed as an ornamentj) wanted to go too!  It is rather chilly out today, so Johnny had to borrow a jacket from Taffy - and is now demanding his own jacket - we'll see.  Mommy,,,,,,,,,,
........... grabbed a cup of coffee the other day, and seemed to think that was a good thing to have in-hand while picking apples!  Hmmmm.  Of course.........
........... Daddy helped Munchie pick some for his bag, and.......
......... then Curtie had a turn.  I love Curtie's shoes!  I don't know if there were any apples left on the trees when they were finished, but............
.............. I'm pretty sure they had a good time!  Oh yes..........
............. this is Little Curtie on his very first day of Junior Kindergarten - doesn't he look handsome!?  I'm told he is loving school and goes happily most days.  Poppa & I went for a lovely drive recently.
The leaves are showing their fall colours - and we enjoyed them as we made our way to........
......... the dump, where Poppa disposed of plant detritus he harvested while cleaning up the yard for the year.  The dump is located in a rural location.........
....... in a valley and the view from there was really pretty.  I borrowed from a page in Uncle Shaun's photography guide,  I included the big truck in the edge - I liked the contrast between the scenery and the equipment.  On our way back to town.........
........ the fall displays were just as nice, but we drove a little faster since.........
......... this big truck was right on our tail and we weren't taking any chances - he was bigger than Monster (Poppa's truck).  As we got closer to town........
.......... we were still seeing lots of autumn colours - and also a lot more traffic!  The drive was nice and I was glad I had gone along!  Of course, knitting is also an enjoyable thing to occupy one's time when the weather turns chilly............
........... so I have started a new project - but more on that later.

Now We Are Six....

...........is a book written by A.A. Milne and is a story about Winnie the Pooh.  Today it is a very good story.......

.......... Yesterday, October 10th, our little Munchie turned six!  He can read stories from the books at school, he can draw.........
........ pictures..........see the bear in the window holding two hearts!  We received a package in the mail the other day - from Munchie - which included this little vignette along with.....
........... a portrait of Poppa & me (Poppa has his glasses on and a cap!)......... as well as........
........ a couple of others which included Squeegie, Taffy & Blacky (his bear).  As you can see, they are now on display in the Fridge Art Gallery!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Poppa's little man!  We wish you all the best and we will see you soon!  We love you Munchie!

Sisters and Such

Granny & Gramps were staying....
............ up at  Horseshoe Resort recently!  It was great fun..........
On the Tuesday after she arrived Poppa & Gramps went golfing....so......... the usual lunch with Auntie Colleen morphed into lunch with four of the five sisters!  Left to right (but not in chronological order) are Auntie Colleen, myself, Granny and Auntie Cecile.  Auntie Cecile was getting ready for a cruise to Italy and other ports of call in Europe - so we were happy to have her join us as well as Granny.....
Here is a closer-up picture of the three of them.  We managed to have dinner with Granny & Gramps in their unit.....
.......... which had all the amenities for preparing and eating a meal - we had roast beef and it was really good!  Another day while the men were golfing.......
....... Granny & I sat out at the back of their unit and admired the beginning of the changing colours of the fall leaves.   When he wasn't golfing....
............ Poppa finished all his outdoor painting - this tractor shed was looking pretty dismal before.  He added aluminum fascia and soffit and eavestrough as well as new paint - it looks pretty good now!  He has also re-painted the front door - but right now - he's golfing again!  And me?  Well, I think I killed my little upright vac that I use on this level - so I'm writing a blog, knitting a pair of socks and watching The View!

Celebrity Status!

It appears we have a new celebrity in the family!  Here is an excerpt from our local paper - including a photo.  Pay attention to the person on the right side of the photo.

Yes!  That is Uncle Shaun!  Here is the write-up that went along with the photo....

Orillia’s Zero Waste Task Force presents Orillia council with a tree as a commemorative gift for sponsoring Ontario’s first Zero Waste Conference, which was held Aug. 10 and 11 at Lakehead University.
From left are Sandy Agnew, an Oro-Medonte Township resident, Christopher Murray, assistant professor with Lakehead University, Gordon Joyce, of Orillia’s waste and environmental management advisory committee, Warren Howes, from the Twin Lakes Conservation Club, Kelly Clune, an Orillia resident, Mayor Angelo Orsi and Shaun Vinson, who assisted with the conference’s website.

A Short Post

Poppa & Squeegie are both wanting to go for breakfast at A&W this morning, so I'll be brief - but I thought you might be wondering where I've been!  Well - the answer is - right here, but there hasn't been much exciting going on - which is a good thing sometimes!  I have been busily knitting dishcloths to fill up my bin....
.......... and it is getting close to full - and since I took this picture I've finished about seven or so  more of them.  However.....
.......... when I went to put the last one away (the dishcloth bin is the totally white one on the second shelf from the bottom) I realized with some dismay....
.... that the sock bin is woefully close to empty!  I can't even imagine that!  But, I guess I'll have to see if I can get some done during the winter while we are in Florida!  Meanwhile....
.... I'll keep busy sitting and knitting!

While...

.... I was getting that picture of the little tree in the light.........
............Poppa was just leaving for his golf game.......if you look carefully you can see his truck just behind the tree on the right.  At the front of the house.....
... I could see the leaves just beginning to turn on one of Poppa's maple trees.  However,
..... weeds in the empty lot beside Poppa's workshop are looking quite healthy and colourful!  Meantime....
....... Aunt Peggy was out for supper on Saturday.  She is still looking well - she is 99 years old!  On Sunday Poppa & Kev-Inn went out to cut the grass at Kev-Inn's lot while Mildred and I had a visit and a chat.  When the boys got home..........
..... we decided to go out for supper at Swiss Chalet - as you can see we all enjoyed ourselves and were quite full when we left!  Also....
..... on Saturday afternoon I was at a shower to celebrate the arrival of a grandson for Uncle Dave and Aunt Bonnie.  Brent & Ashley were proud to show off Coulton Davidson - he was there - and believe it or not - I failed to get a picture of him!  I did get to hold him for a few minutes - he looks like his Daddy.  That is Ashley in the centre talking to one of the younger guests.  Aunt Bonnie (Grandma) thought they would need to build an addition on their house so they would have space for all the presents.
Here's Taffy - all dolled up for church on Sunday - she does look pretty - doesn't she?
On Monday things returned to normal.  Here is Poppa deciding which donut to have with his coffee on Tuesday morning.  We took a couple of minutes when we got home....
....... to admire the nice white paint at the front door - and to check for wasps - Poppa is involved in an ongoing battle with wasps around our house right now!  And me, well..........
......... Poppa had gone golfing again, so I've done some housework and .........
......... started making a few dishcloths.
