Home Entertainment Unit

Now - whether it's time or not - I think I'll post about Sunday with Munchkin. We started by going out for breakfast. He was precious, charmed the waitress, ate Froot Loops and a special rice baby cookie while he drank his juice from a bottle. We all had a good time in spite of the dreary, damp, dull, rainy day. We spent the rest of the day with our Home Entertainment Unit, which kept us all watching and listening and laughing - or sometimes scurrying to stop it from damaging itself *smile* .

Mama and Daddad took a plunge in the hot tub (and I joined them). It was a nice relaxing time for us and Poppa stayed inside to keep an eye on the entertainment unit for us. We grabbed some supper while the entertainment took a nap break, and when supper was finished the entertainment was jacketed and put in the car for transport back to his house. All in all it was a great weekend and so much fun for all of us.

Testing...Testing..1.2.3

Received this delightful little tidbit from Mama the other day............just testing to see if I can do this...........and/or if it will work at all. It is a follow-up to the creeping sensation post of the other day. I think our little Canadian Male Munchkin may be embarking on a new career and will become the Canadian Male Munchkin Movie-star!

Early Morning Raid

I apologize - I still haven't had time to post about Sunday! I kinda slept in a bit this morning and just ran out of time. But, I did get this picture from Mama. I think she must have been a little late getting Munchie's breakfast ready and he decided to take matters into his own hands. I'm not sure what he was planning on doing with that Plum Sauce, but apparently he thought it looked tempting...that is until he heard Mama coming up behind him - at which time he smiled winningly and tried to charm his way out of getting caught red-handed with his sticky little fingers in the fridge!

I'm still working madly on that large circle-which-will-have-arms. I seem to have so little time lately...not sure why...but it must have something to do with getting older and having a retired husband...can't think of anything else!

Grandmothers & Other Relatives

Here we go into the weekend with Munchie. Dadad, Mama and Munchkin arrived on Saturday morning, just after Poppa & I got back home from breakfast. Munchie quickly discovered the new Fisher Price Zoo that I had found for him - on sale at Wal-Mart. He seemed to like it all right and it kept him occupied for quite a while. We all hung out together watching him and then Poppa and Dadad went golfing. Mama and I bundled Munchie into his jacket and headed off to visit Aunt Peggy - who kept hinting to me that she would like to see Munchie, when she heard he was coming to visit. I called Great-Grandma Grace and was so pleased when she popped over from next door to have a quick visit too. Little Munchie smiled charmingly at them and crept and climbed and was generally cute.

Then we headed off to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things, stopped for KFC on the way home and headed in that direction. The boys beat us home by just a few minutes. They had a good time golfing and were quite ready to eat.
Sunday to follow.

That big circle-which-will-have-arms is still growing. I finally got that larger needle that I ordered and it is much easier to work on it now - although it is still kinda crowded, even on the 40" needle. I have about 12 more rounds to go and then I will put an edging on it and start the arms. The green is actually darker than it looks in this picture - I guess the light hit it harder at the green end?!? I'm actually looking forward to getting it done so I can see it spread out.

Sock It To Me!

Just a quick note.....I have some wonderful pictures from the weekend with Munchie, but I haven't had time to download them from the camera yet. I will post a more comprehensive blog to cover our weekend with him later. But, I do have a picture that Mama sent this morning which I will endeavour to shed some light on. When Mama and Dadad were getting ready to leave they had to disturb Munchkin's nap to get his jacket on. So, they decided that he would fall asleep in the car anyway - therefore they would just leave his little Nike's off and let him ride in his sock feet. Apparently he stayed awake in the car just long enough to pull his socks off and let his little toes get some air - and then he fell asleep and slept most of the way home. When they arrived home I think Dadad got confused when he tried to put the socks back on the little feet - at least that's what it looks like to me.

Creeping Sensation

Here I sit, early on a Saturday morning, waiting to hear from Mama, to let me know what time I can expect the arrival of her little family. I didn't get to my computer in time to chat with her yesterday, so I'm not sure of their plans. And here sits Munchie, patiently sleeping, oops I mean waiting, for Mama to get everything ready so he can go and visit Nanna and Poppa - what's taking her so long?

I was going to post pictures of my birthday loot, but Poppa wants me to wait until I get the area cleared of cardboard and plastic, so that might have to be in the next post.

Here is another shot from Auntie Colleen and Uncle Shaun's beautiful yard. I'm not sure that this one is such a great testament to the beauty of her garden, but it does have a beauty all its own - don't you think? Look at the perfect shape of the head, and the straightness of the stem. Then imagine all the little fuzzy things floating around in the hair, looking delicate and pretty against the green of your lawn - which I might remind you is in imminent danger of becoming the green of dandelion leaves and not those perky spikes of grass. But admire the beauty of this dandelion for a few minutes and then decide what to do about the lack of grass.

And last, but not least, here is a picture of our creeping sensation! I am so looking forward to seeing this in real life! But isn't it sensational?? Hee!

I'm still working on that large circle sweater, but have slowed down while I await the arrival of a larger circular needle. It is getting verrrry difficult to work with so many stitches on the one I am using. I checked my account and it was shipped via Canada Post on June 3rd from B.C. to Ontario. It should arrive early next week - I hope!

It's June!

Yes...it is June already! How time flies when a person is retired and working - Hee! The weather has been chilly and rainy lately and that is counter-productive to a lot of the projects that Poppa would like to work on. So...tonight he took Squeegie and left after supper to go and tend to mowing duties at Great-Grandma Grace's and Aunt Peggy's houses. Auntie Maureen called for a chat, and before I could look at the clock it was already 9:10pm! Whew!

I finished up that baby afghan and put some crocheted trim on it. Folded it and placed it in the finished bin. One of these days I will have to pull all that stuff out and get some pictures of it...for now it is safe and protected from dust. I looked around to see what I could do next and found some really nice colours in knitting worsted weight. After some consideration I decided to make one of those sweaters that are really a great big circle with arms. The lighting didn't seem to lend itself to a good shot, but I let Taffy keep working on it while I snapped some pictures. At this point it really doesn't look like much - and I have ordered a larger size of those wonderful Addi Turbo circular needles so it won't be so crowded on those 32 inchers. It is really fun to make and doesn't require a lot of thinking - hence a good project for watching TV in the evenings.
We had a tax auditor in this week reviewing our GST and QST payments. He required some historical information that was stored at the old plant, which is now just used for a pattern shop and pattern storage. I went down there and snapped a couple of pictures for posterity, since Poppa worked there for 10 years, and then I worked there for 8 years, before the offices were re-located to their present location in a much newer building. Unfortunately I couldn't get into the actual office since that area is leased out to our local Air Cadets, but I got a few interesting shots - including this one of the Pattern Shop where Poppa used to work.

Munchkin is thriving! He is developing his own little personality, as well as likes and dislikes. One of his latest favourites is watered down fruit punch, which Mama bought on sale and Dadad decided to let Munchie have a sample. He is crawling more adeptly than last time I saw him trying and I can't wait to watch him perform for us this weekend when he comes for a visit.

I feel a compelling need to show you this picture of our province's flower - the trillium - which Auntie Colleen has growing in that intriguing backyard over at her house. I have never seen one this colour any place and am smitten with this photo. On the weekend Poppa and I went for a drive northward from our place. We spied some trilliums growing along the road and I scanned them for a red trillium..............nope. There were white ones, and the pale pinky-purple I am accustomed to seeing, but nary a one like this delightful speciman. Auntie Colleen and Uncle Shaun have the most interesting backyard evah!
