Three of my friends from work opted into the Sock Giveaway this year. So.....
... Lucy chose Frantic Frog in Toe-rrific by 5th Ave. A little background - she is of French Canadian descent and seems to have a frog fetish - so I think she chose by name rather than colour or design! Hee! She moved to the Finance Dept. when I retired, as my replacement. Our Japanese liaison in the Finance Dept.......
chose Hyper Hyena - again in Toe-rrific by 5th Ave. This is quite a good choice since Taz is a young, good-looking, hard-working fellow who is often quite hyper - trying to get all his missions accomplished! And - being Japanese is not used to cold Canadian winters - so I hope they keep his feet warm! Finally - I had a special request for a special colour from Sue.....
.... who wasn't sure if she even wanted hand-knit socks, but thought she would try them if they were purple. She has had surgery very recently and I was feeling sorry for her, so though I do not usually take requests, I decided this time I would. So, I went to Jo-Ann and bought some more of that Deborah Norville Serenity Sock Yarn in purple (the same yarn I used for Auntie Colleen's purple socks). I called them Purple People-Eater and saved them for her. She'll either love them or hate them - I hope she loves them! That concludes the first sock give-away for 2013. I may have another one - but I am going to wait until I get home around the middle of April to deliver them. Postage has more than doubled for socks since last year (their USPS is in financial difficulties and is making a lot of cutbacks and price increases) so it is becoming quite expensive to mail them from here. I'll let you know.... meanwhile.....
.... Squeegie is still waiting for Poppa to stop reading, so they can move on to their next project. Next chapter to follow soon!

Sox 2013 5th Choice
One more pair of socks gone! Auntie Denise has made her choice.....
Hi Taffy, this is very difficult to make a selection, as Mudder always makes them all so beautiful. But after awhile I selected burgundy berry.
Once again these are made from 5th Avenue Toe-rrific sock yarn. When I am knitting socks with plain yarn, I feel compelled to put some kind of pattern on them to make them look nicer....and when I looked at the picture I thought Berries would be good. I hope she likes them. I mailed off packages to Mommy, Auntie Colleen, Gramma and Aunt Grumpy this morning. I will get Auntie Denise's package of soon. It is time now for my co-workers to choose the socks they like, so I'm off to send the pics. More soon!

Sox 2013 4th Choice
Ok! You are gonna love this one.....
Hello Squeegie & Taffy. Please tell Mudder I choose 'Dusty Donkey'. No Squeegie, Aunt Grumpy does not think she is a bit of an ass sometimes. She just liked the neutral colour.
These are the Dusty Donkey Socks that Aunt Grumpy chose. They are made from 5th Avenue Toe-rrrific sock yarn. Maybe I should have called them by another name? I don't know, but I love the comment! Now the pictures are on their way to Auntie Denise. Oh yes.....
.... you're still wondering what Squeegie is waiting for aren't you? Coming soon!

What........
..........is Squeegie...........
..... waiting for now? It might be food (since that is his absolute favourite thing!), but........
......... he might be watching Poppa fix the tap in the kitchen..... or
........maybe, he's watching........
.... while Poppa cleans under the stove and then.....
......... cleans the grout in the tile floors to make them look like brand new again! He did an excellent job. But.......
...... he might have been keeping an eye on Poppa while he cleaned the vacuum! Or he might have been waiting while........
..........Poppa did.........what is he doing?
Oh my goodness! Can you see it? He put a pin-stripe on my car! You see, I kept complaining that his truck was all dressed up, but my car looked totally plain. This....
...... is my favourite part! And the angle of the light was perfect for this shot! (Not to mention the free advert for our dealership - Hee!). Doesn't Zipper look much prettier now?? Of course! But I'm wondering........
...... what is Squeegie waiting for now????

Sox 2013 3rd Choice
I thought I would like to share the comments from the peeps choosing their socks. First there was Mommy.....
They are all great and I love the variegated ones (as you know), but the Piglet socks are the winner. I just can’t take my eyes off of them! It could be because they are Crazy Bright, but I feel I must have them.
Then there was Gramma....
There is too much to chose from cause they are all beautiful! It was A VERY HARD choose but I pick Billie Bluejay. Have you been knitting by the pool? I am really jealous cause its so cold here!
And now Auntie Colleen has chimed in.....
You always make this so difficult. They are all lovely. And oh Sister, the names are priceless
! Okay, I go for Millie Mermaid.
These are made from Foot Prints Sock Yarn by Mary Maxim. I have always been tempted to try one of these morphing colorways but had never been willing to pay the price. Mary Maxim had a sale on so I limited myself to one skein, since it was still on the high side of my limit for one pair of socks. But I had so much fun knitting them and watching the colours change, I might consider getting some more. There was no chance of the socks matching since the colours did not repeat the way they usually do in a variegated yarn. I hope Auntie Colleen enjoys wearing them as much as I did making them! Now the pictures are on their way to Aunt Grumpy! She gets her e-mail at work, so she won't be able to get back to me until Monday. Be patient!

Sox 2013 2nd Choice
I just received an e-mail from Gramma.........
... she chose these socks knitted from 5th Avenue's sock yarn called Toe-rriffic. I called this pair Billy Bluejay. I managed to snaffle quite a bit of 5th Avenue sock yarn at a more than reasonable price this summer while I was looking at various yarn supply web-sites. You can expect to see more socks in other colours of the same yarn this year. The pics are now winging their way to Auntie Colleen for her choice! I'll get back to you soon.

Sox 2013
I have finished the required number of sox to begin the 1st Sock Giveaway of this year!
Taffy piled them up for this photo. Mommy was in last place in 2012 - so she is first this time around. I sent her the photos about five minutes ago, and about two minutes ago I already had her answer - and she chose the exact pair that I thought she would. I had bought this On Your Toes yarn from Kertzer with Mommy in mind. They look like this.........
....... and I called them Patty Piglet, since the colours looked a lot like A.A. Milne's famous Piglet to me. I'll be sending them off on Tuesday as that is my next mailing day! And, right now I am sending the pictures off to Gramma, as she is next on my list. I'll let you know when I hear back from her!
