November Memories

November is just a memory now, but I'll show you some of the highlights.........
.... Poppa bought this cute little slow cooker for me..... a red one.... to match the new toaster he bought for me in October.  It is smaller than my large one..........great for just the two of us......... and bigger than the little one - which is just too small for some things.
Aunt Denise was over one day while she and Poppa did some research on-line.  I love this picture - can you see a family resemblance???
Trent was in Orillia to play hockey!  Sean, Lori, Trent and Trinity were all on hand to watch, and Poppa, myself and Curtie all went to watch as well!  The next day they all came for a short visit, but unfortunately the visit was too short.  We both enjoyed the visit immensely though and Curtie thought Sean was funny and nice and wanted to see him again!  Thanks to the Duncans for the visit!!!
Yes, you were reading correctly.  We met Mommy, Munchie and Curtie at the halfway point and we brought Curtie back for a weekend.  It seemed like a short visit....
....... Curtie had enough time for his favourite thing to eat at our place.... toast with butter and peanut butter!  That's an easy meal to get ready!
He had a good time playing with Poppa, Squeegie and Taffy - but a weekend makes a short visit, and soon we took him back to meet Mommy again.  Then it would be Munchie's turn a couple of weeks later.

And Then....

........ with that cooler weather.............
..... the leaves started putting on their colours..........
.......... it was quite beautiful........
..... well worth taking a drive, but of course............
...... then they started falling.  This is Auntie Colleen's front yard - she has a huge, old tree there.  I was so glad Poppa didn't have to rake that great big yard we used to have.  But............
....... I was not so glad one morning when I woke up and saw this in our back yard!!!!  Yikes!  I took this photo on October 27, 2016.  We still had a few weeks until we headed for the Sunshine State.

What Was I Knitting...........

.......... in the last blog (pictures taken prior to our leaving for Florida)???
Well, it started out with some lovely yarn in various colours.

Then...........it became a lot of squares sewn into strips.....
....... finally, the strips were sewn together to make........
...... a queen-size blanket for Mommy and Daddy when the weather got wintery!  I put it on Poppa's bed so you could see it finished.  Good job I got it made - the weather started to turn chilly....

...... so Squeegie thought he should eat more - he says bears eat a lot as soon as it starts to get cold in the autumn, but it seems to me that he is hungry all the time no matter what the weather is like.
Taffy snuggled into a fuzzy blanket to watch TV.
Mildred was wearing the sweater I knitted for her when the weather was still warm.
Auntie Colleen was wearing slacks instead of shorts when we went to visit Grandma Grace and Aunt Peggy.
The evening sky looked rather pretty, but still a little chilly too.
But - Poppa was still wearing shorts when he went over to the garden units to repair some of the stairs for the Condo Board - he is now a member of aforementioned Board.  He did such a good job, they were all asking him to join.  He attended his first meeting via Skype from our place in Florida.

Munchie's Birthday

I know - I'm a few months late with this post!  Munchie was 8 years old on October 10th.  We went down for a visit on the weekend he was celebrating.
Grandma was there visitng too.  |It was nice to see her, it had been a long time.  As you can see, she is looking well!  Curtis was happy to see Taffy and Squeegie and had to show them...........
...... his googly head bands.........
... then Munchie and Poppa got googly too....
......... of course then the boys wanted a picture of everyone!  Poppa had a little time..........
.... to play with Bam - they went outside and played ball .... I think they all had a good time.  Pretty soon we had to travel back home to beat the traffic and the dark on the highway.  The visit was short, but we all enjoyed it and Munchie was happy to see us.  The next day...........
.... Auntie Cecile turned up at the front door with a bag full of newspapers for Poppa to read and..........
......... way back then, this was my knitting project!  Hmmm!

Poppa's August Project

A long time ago, I teased you with a picture of Poppa in his garage.  Here is a series of pictures to show you that project.....

......... he took everything off the shelves at the end of the garage and set up a temporary table to use as a place to saw boards............
..... he did a lot of noisy sawing.............
........... he stopped for a few minutes for a quick survey of the situation...........
........... he made all the shelves more shallow so he would be able to find things, instead of them being hidden by the bins at the front.  This caused him to need more shelves............
...........so he busied himself on the side wall.............
.......... and soon had a whole new shelving unit there!  So............
........... he started loading stuff back onto his new and improved shelves - which took him quite a while.  I thought I had a picture of the finished and tidied project, but I can't find it right now???  I'll post it as soon as I discover where I hid it!  But............
...... I think this is the last picture I have of my dear Aunt Peggy.  It was taken in September, but she looked this good when we were leaving in December.  Just wanted to share it with you.

So Much Has Happened....

...... since I posted last - I'm not sure where to start.  We arrived safely in Florida and had a good trip down as well as a couple of nights on the Atlantic coast - then made our way to our final destination.  But, I already told you all that!  Everything was good.... until I got a phone call from home to tell me that Aunt Peggy had been taken to hospital with pneumonia - double pneumonia.  I knew that was not good for someone who was almost 102 years old (March 14th).  She got out of the hospital and seemed to be doing much better - for a couple of days.  At that point, she got worse again and deteriorated quickly.  We flew back to Canada on January 14th and arrived at the Atrium about 20 minutes before she drew her last labored breath, which was about 7 minutes (or so) after we each took a turn talking to her.  Following that we had a flurry of things to attend to, and having completed as much as we could, we flew back to Florida on the 19th.  It feels like there is a missing part in our lives.  God Bless Aunt Peggy!

Let Me Think!

It has been so long since I posted, I am trying to figure out where to start!  We are in Florida at our new location...........
..... this is a picture of the front of the house, but it isn't a very good one.... I'll go out tomorrow and try to get a better, more panoramic view for you, since this only shows  part of it!

This is the part you are missing, but it is hard to imagine how it really looks.  It is quite a lot larger than the other villa and we are just starting to get used to it!  In other news, we had visits from each of the little boys in November and then the whole family for Christmas dinner the first weekend in December.  Then we headed up north to pick up Aunt Muffy, who is staying at our place for the winter months.  Then we decided to leave for Florida a day early due to a weather forecast that sounded ominous for our scheduled departure date.  We had a nice visit with David and Alison for a couple of days before they headed back to the UK - and Robert was also here!  We've been really busy ever since then.  Denis and Liz are at their place here in Florida until the end of the month, and we seem to spend quite a bit of time over there!  Also, Aunt Peggy developed pneumonia in both lungs shortly after we arrived in Florida, so I've been somewhat worried about her.  After spending a few days in the hospital, she was finally returned to the Atrium and the reports have been slightly more favourable the last couple of days.  There will be photos of most of these events in blogs to follow  This is the best picture from the new villa............
..... David sent it to me - it is a lovely shot of the pool area.  We have been in the pool and Poppa has been enjoying the hot tub in the evenings!  The weather has been marvellous - hot!  However, today it cooled down considerably and when we returned from church and dinner with Liz and Denis, Poppa actually decided to turn on some heat!  Rats!  It is supposed to turn warm again on Monday - back to the A/C - hurray!  We have the most amazing kitchen here.........
......... this will give you an idea - but I'll get more pictures for you soon!  Good Night!
