One More Day (Chapter Two)

We left Richmond, KY after going to MacDonalds for an Egg McMuffin.  The weather was bright and sunny and it was a lovely day for a drive.  We drove a little longer than usual and stopped for the night in Valdosta, GA at another Super 8.  As usual, the staff were very pleasant and welcoming, and the room was clean.   When we got up in the morning we donned our shorts and tees and crocs.  It was mild and we were so pleased to be able to go jacket-less.  Unfortunately, I didn't get the camera out for any pics though.

We travelled into Florida and made our way southward until Poppa declared it time to quit for the day.  Since our plan was to walk in the Gulf the next morning, we looked for a place to stay near the beach.  We parked the car and strolled along the shore, where there was a delightful marina full of various kinds of sailing and fishing boats- some of them available for hire

.........but............the wind was cold, so after I actually got my feet wet in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico

we soon opted to walk away from the water onto the street,

where we discovered this wonderful reproduction of a famous photo that appeared in the national newspapers when young sailors were leaving to head overseas during World War II.

We stopped in at what looked like a nifty place right on Fort Myers Beach, but they were filled with young folks looking for a place to spend New Years' Eve.  So....we went a little northward to Fort Myers and found a Super 8 to crash for the night.
